Field Manual

Gameplay

A persistent strategy war game that keeps running while you're away. Build the economy, equip the army, take the ground — then hold it against everyone else doing the same.

01 // Overview

One world. Everyone in it.

Idle Conflict runs on a single world shared by every commander. Your territory, factories and armies advance on their own schedule — you set direction, the world keeps turning between sessions.

  • Always runningProduction and income continue while you're offline. You return to results, not chores.
  • One shared world195 nations on a live map. Every border belongs to somebody, and every one of them is negotiable.
  • Server authoritativeEvery figure is settled by the server, so outcomes stay consistent for everyone involved.
  • Session friendlyMeaningful decisions in a few minutes; depth for as long as you want to give it.
  • No downloadsIt runs in the browser, on the machine you already have in front of you.
  • Free to playStart commanding a nation without paying for the privilege.

The world map

Every border is somebody's

A live tactical map of 195 nations. Survey a target, weigh the approach, calculate the route and commit — or scout who already holds the ground and decide it isn't worth the fight.

  • Real-time territory and active fronts
  • Population, infrastructure and approach costs per nation
  • Scout rival commanders before you commit

The economy

War is an accounting problem

Income, upkeep, securities and a live currency market in one place. Every operation you run is paid for from here, and every territory you hold pays back into it.

  • Multi-currency accounts with a daily market fix
  • Cash-flow ledger down to the individual line
  • Stocks, bonds and portfolio positions
command // economy

The army

Nothing is recruited from nothing

Every unit is built from other units and the equipment you manufactured to arm them. A rifleman needs a rookie, a rifle, body armour and ammunition — so your army is only ever as deep as your supply chain.

  • Unit dossiers with full combat profiles
  • Training requirements chained from units and items
  • Four branches: troops, tanks, aircraft and carriers

02 // The idle loop

It pays while you're gone

This is the part that's hard to explain and easy to feel. Change the posture and watch the treasury move — the real game does this whether the tab is open or not.

What you actually do

  1. 01Build the economyIncome scales with the territory you hold and the infrastructure you invest in. Everything else is paid for from here.
  2. 02Manufacture equipmentPlants convert materials into gear on a production cycle. Upgrade capacity, add bays, keep the lines busy.
  3. 03Train operatorsPromote units up the chain, arming each tier with the gear you built for it, into a force that suits how you intend to fight.
  4. 04Take and hold groundCommit forces to a theatre and contest territory against real commanders. Holding is harder than taking.

04 // Systems

Under the hood

  • Global marketA daily price fix on shared commodities. Buy the inputs you're short of, sell the surplus you're not using.
  • ManufacturingPlants, bays and production cycles, charged per cycle rather than up front.
  • Live world mapTerritory, fronts and active wars, drawn from the same state every other commander sees.
  • ProgressionA single experience ledger across every system — nothing you do is wasted effort.
  • RankingsPublished leaderboards across several disciplines, not one blunt power score.
  • IntelligenceScout rival commanders for a partial picture before you commit to anything.

Before you start

  • Is Idle Conflict free to play?Yes. Idle Conflict is free to start — you can create a commander, claim a nation and play without paying.
  • Do I need to download anything? No. Idle Conflict runs entirely in your web browser on the machine you already have. There is no client to install and no launcher.
  • Does the game keep running when I am offline?Yes. Production and income continue on the server while you are away and are settled when you return, up to a cap of 24 hours. Beyond that, further away time does not accrue.
  • How much time does it take to play? You can make meaningful decisions in a few minutes per session. The idle progression handles the rest, and there is as much depth as you want to give it.
